What is hash?

Hash is short for hashish and comes from the trichomes of cannabis plants. Trichomes are resinous, and there are different ways to separate the resin that makes hash from the cannabis plant. It’s believed that people have made hash for centuries.

How is hash made?

There are two types of hash: dry sift hash and ice water (bubble) hash. Hash can be made using the dry sift screen method in which you put highly frozen plant material on a screen and delicately sift it through. The result is high quality but low return. The dry ice method requires that you combine 40% dry ice with your plant material in a bag that you shake. The shaking causes unwanted plant material to break off. Both methods require patience and practice.

How to smoke hash?

You may smoke or vaporize hash. To do so, you’ll need a pipe or dab rig. You can add hash to dried flower and smoke it in a joint or a pipe. To smoke hash on its own, you’ll need to dab it. The dabbing process involves heating the hash into a vapour that you can inhale. You’ll need to use a dab rig to dab.

What is hash oil?

Hash oil is concentrated hash. To consume hash oil, you’ll need a dab rig that heats the oil into a vapour that you can inhale. Hash oil is extremely potent and can contain up to 90% THC. THC oil can come in a variety of forms:
  • Butane hash oil (BHO), butane honey oil, honey oil
  • Honeycomb, crumble, crumble wax
  • Pull-and-snap
  • Batter, budder
  • Wax, earwax
  • Crystalline
  • Distillate
  • Shatter

How to smoke hash in a bowl?

To smoke hash in a bowl, add a little to dried flower and place in the bowl like normal. Remember that hash is more potent than dried flower, so start with a tiny amount until your body gets used to the sensation.

How to smoke bubble hash?

First, tightly place a mesh screen in the bowl of the pipe. Second, add dried flower. Remember that hash is quite potent, so that it will be much different from your usual experience. Third, cut up the bubble hash into tiny pieces. Fourth, place these pieces on top of the flower around the bowl. Finally, light up, so the flame is slightly above the pieces of hash and inhale. You want to vaporize the hash. When done right, bubbles form on the hash, and you’ll be able to take in the vapour with each inhale.

How to smoke hash in a hash pipe?

A hash pipe is specialized for hash in that they contain many holes at the top of the bowl:
  1. Break the hash into tiny pieces.
  2. Place the pieces in the bowl, remembering that hash is quite potent so that you won’t need much.
  3. Heat a glass wand for about a minute and use it to vaporize the hash.
  4. Do this by pressing the heated end of the glass wand against the pieces of hash. Once vaporized, inhale through the pipe.

How to smoke hash oil?

You can smoke hash oil in a joint, pipe, or bong by adding just a few drops onto the dried flower and smoking it as normal. The most important thing to be mindful of is that hash oil is quite potent, so only a little can get you a long way. You can also use a dab rig. Place a tiny drop of hash oil on your dabber and heat your nail. Put the hash oil to the inside of the nail and inhale as the oil turns into vapour. Place more hash oil around the nail as you inhale.

Where does hash come from?

Hash comes from parts of the cannabis plant known as trichomes. Resin is collected from these trichomes, concentrated, and formed into a solid block. This block contains all the cannabinoids and terpenes of the strain from which it was extracted.

How long does hash oil stay in your system?

How long hash stays in your system is based on your body mass index, body chemistry, how often you use THC, the potency of cannabis, and the type of test.
  • Blood tests: a few hours to a few days.
  • Saliva tests: a few days depending on what you eat and how often you brush your teeth.
  • Urine tests: seldom users of THC -- five to eight days. Users who consume THC twice a week -- 11 to 18 days. Frequent THC users -- 33 to 65 days.
