In an interview with Cannabis Aficionado, David, the founder of Spectrum Confections said, “The jelly bean is perfect for the proper dosage.” He went on to explain that each jelly bean contains 10 ml of CBD. “If people want a small dose, they eat one. If they want 20 ml, they can eat two. They can decide what their proper dosage is.” David said that his favorite is strawberry cheesecake, and he even went onto say that their mango jelly beans taste “more like mango than mango does”.
What is CBD
CBD is extracted and separated from specific varieties of cannabis, often known as hemp. In it’s chemical form CBD is one of 85 chemical substances known as cannabinoids. These are all found in the cannabis plant. In hemp, CBD is the second most common compound and it makes up 40% of its extracts.
The most common feature of cannabis is the cannabinoid called THC, this gets you high, and THC is gives your body psychoactive effects. CBD products do not contain THC and will NOT get you high because CBD products contain virtually no THC. CBD is completely separated and isolated from THC. CBD is extracted in oil form and is often found mixed in hemp oil extracts in varying concentrations. Compared to THC, CBD reacts with your body in a different way, and gives you all the health benefits of cannabis, without actually getting you high! Isn’t that amazing?
Is CBD Legal?
Yes, CBD is legal around the world. There’s a lot of misinformation surrounding CBD however CBD is unrelated to the chemical chain found in THC. CBD is a legal cannabinoid and it’s safe to consume in different amounts and concentrations. Overall it’s accepted that CBD is a great alternative to THC for a whole host of reasons! In the USA, CBD has been legal thanks to the 2014 Farm Bill. That bill allowed hemp to be legal in all 50 states!
“Marijuana” cannabis plants have a low percentage of CBD than hemp plants. That’s why most CBD products use CBD from hemp not marijuana. Because marijuana has higher concentration of THC, it’s not an ideal choice for producing CBD products. Using marijuana plants would require extracting some of the THC to make CBD within the legal limits.
Hemp cannabis plant have a high amount of CBD and low THC, making them the most efficient plant for CBD processing.
So the bottom line here is, if your CBD comes from hemp, it is legal. CBD made from “marijuana” with high levels of THC, is only legal if your state legalized marijuana.
CBD in California
The California Department of Public Health smacked down the hemp-derived CBD foods industry in early July, stating unequivocally that “CBD derived from industrial hemp is NOT approved for human and animal consumption by the FDA.” However, CBD derived from cannabis plants is OK to add to edibles, since edibles aren’t considered “food.”. This means that you can still buy CBD products in California… if you couldn’t then Spectrum Confections wouldn’t have launched would they?
So, when looking for quality CBD, start your search at a local dispensary. If you’re in Sacramento, Los Angeles, San Fransisco or Compton, a local dispensary is the way to go. You can also hit up BudderWeeds for some great edibles but, if you’re in sunny California then check out your local dispensaries too.
You can be sure that all cbd products from reputable brands are rigorously tested for purity and potency. Select from a variety of delivery methods including vape carts, capsules, edibles, tinctures and flowers, guaranteed to keep you relaxed and worry free.
Is Cannabis legal in California
You can buy cannabis in several forms in California. Flower — essentially dried marijuana buds — is the one you’ve probably seen before. It can be purchased in the form of pre-rolled joints or by itself. If you buy flower on its own, you’ll also want to make sure you have something to smoke it out of (such as a glass bowl); it might seem obvious, but it’s a surprisingly easy detail to overlook if you’re coming from a non-legal state.
Of course, flower isn’t all your local dispensary will carry. You can expect to see a variety of edibles, tinctures, vapes, concentrates (see our concentrate dabbing guide here), topicals, and more! How potent a particular product is depends on the amount of THC, which is the chemical compound in cannabis that gets you high. We suggest going in with a couple different categories of products you feel like trying because otherwise, it’s just overwhelming as there are so many products.
So we know Spectrum Confections is a brand to get excited about, but so is BudderWeeds! We stock everything from flower to edibles to medicinals, so why not check out our product list and read all there is to know about a great range of cannabis products today?
